Esther Akhigbe
Founder and Executive Director
ESther is a Lawyer with seven years of experience who holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame, USA. She currently works with the United States government under the South Bend Human Rights Commission. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Abuja in 2016 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2018.
Following her call to the Bar, Esther worked with the Nigeria Securities and Exchange Commission from 2018 to 2019. During this time, she also volunteered with Hope Behind Bars, an Abuja-based human rights NGO, to balance her legal career with her commitment to human rights. She rose to the position of Programs Officer at Hope Behind Bars in 2020. In January 2020, Esther joined the law firm of Ogbeide Associates as an Associate and Human Resource Manager for its subsidiary organization. She left Ogbeide Associates in July 2021 to further her studies in the United States.
As a beneficiary of an international scholarship from the University of Notre Dame, Esther founded MEF as a way to give back to society, aiming to change the world through education, one child at a time.
