Grace comes from a Christian minority village in the deepest parts of Kebbi state, which has been surrounded by Boko Haram insurgents. Her guardian explained to MEF that Christian missionaries helped sneak her out of the village and brought her to the orphanage two weeks before our visit (between September 11-16, 2022). Grace had no prior educational background, so this is her first experience attending school. She is still adjusting to life outside her village and at the orphanage, but her guardian hopes that she will excel in her education in the near future.
