Varter is the second child of his mother, who is a widow. She shared with MEF that she was able to pay her four children’s school fees without difficulty until she fell seriously ill. Her illness forced her to stop working, causing her children to drop out of school to work. Varter had not attended school for the past year, so MEF had to re-enroll him.
